Analysis of Stopping Behavior at Rural T-Intersections Using Naturalistic Driving Study Data

چکیده

Rural intersections account for around 30% of crashes in rural areas and 6% all fatal crashes, representing a significant but poorly understood safety problem. Crashes at are also problematic since high speeds on intersection approaches present which can exacerbate the impact crash. Additionally, often underserved with EMS services further contribute to negative crash outcomes. This paper describes an analysis driver stopping behavior T-intersections using SHRP 2 Naturalistic Driving Study data. Type stop was used as surrogate measure full/rolling stops compared non-stops. Time series traces were obtained 157 drivers 87 unique resulting 1277 samples controlled approach T-intersections. Roadway (i.e. number lanes, presence skew, speed limit, bar or other traffic control devices), (age, gender, speeding), environmental characteristics (time day, rain) reduced included independent variables. Results logistic regression model indicated less likely during nighttime. However lighting increased likelihood stops. Presence skew shown negatively behavior. Additionally who traveling over posted limit upstream sign.

Using In-vehicle Sensor Data for Naturalistic Driving Analysis

This paper addresses the problem of the usage of the in-vehicle sensor data collected in naturalistic driving conditions. Many applications in the intelligent transportation system research area require complex analysis of such data, taking account of the spatial location and the road network topology. An extended database management system using specific model for moving objects and sensor dat...

Aggressiveness propensity index for driving behavior at signalized intersections.

The development of a quantitative intersection aggressiveness propensity index (API) is described in this paper. The index is intended to capture the overall propensity for aggressive driving to be experienced at a given signalized intersection. The index is a latent quantity that can be estimated from observed environmental, situational and driving behavior variables using structural equations...
